I could see my Laptop files (also Home Group) on the network when viewed from the PC (then on Home), but when I tried to see my PC from my Laptop (on Pro) it was greyed out and the dreaded "network path could not be found" kept popping up.
I only discovered this by accident as I had wasted best part of a day trying to configure networking between my PC and Laptop - i.e.
Upgrade took less than 10 minutes with a couple of restarts and Windows configuration messages! To get my PC back to Pro I simply entered the correct Pro licence key for the original upgrade. On the other hand my Laptop which originally had Windows 7 Pro, upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro and then to Windows 10 Pro via a purchased memory stick stuck with Window 10 Pro after the upgrade. Originally purchased with Windows 8 Home, but I upgraded to Window 10 Pro via a purchased memory stick! The 1703 downgraded it to Home. I am gunna have to try this out later today. It see's the bios key and then just downgrades itself to home during the install.There is a fix for that. Problem is installing with the Windows 10 Pro disk doesn't ask for the key. Enter the Windows 8.1 Pro key after the OS installs. ISO for Windows 10 Pro, wipe the drive, and reinstall.
That upgrade should have shipped with a new key for Windows 8.1 Pro. How do I get win 10 to Recognize that this machine had been upgraded via an anytime upgrade and get back to PRO? I suspect the downgrade occurred because the original windows key stored in bios was a Home Key. However now we upgraded it to Windows 10 via the free update and the machine has reverted to being Home Edition.
